Social Butterfly is going Green!
We hope you can appreciate a Going Green Party Alternative and invite Social Butterfly to your next celebration. We strive in making parties as environmentally-friendly as possible.  Paper makes up about 35 percent and plastics 11.3 percent of all municipal waste (before recycling); using less from the start is the easiest way to reduce trash.  We help eliminate paper & plastic waste by using china, glassware and linens washed using Seventh Generation Detergent Our reusable decor adds a dramatic effect to your party without the consumption of paper streamers and latex balloons.  We no longer use water bottles or offer balloons that could kill local wildlife after ingesting them.  All our favors are presented in paperless favor bags, our invitations are made from recyclable paper and we use natural wood craft projects that is painted with low VOC's and non-toxic acrylic paint.  Our games and costumes are reused and can be recycled.

Find out how you can join us in helping the planet by following these environmentally friendly tips for your next child's birthday party.

Gifts:  Common gifts will be plastic toys that are full of toxins and chemicals that have harmful effects on children. And plastic breaks quite easily, then because they’re non-recyclable, they end up in landfills. Focus on helping kids learn the joy of helping others rather than tearing through gift boxes. However simply telling your child that he's giving a goat to an African community rather than getting presents is more likely to evoke tears than joy. The key is to combine green values with party themes that kids love.  Ask your guests to bring gifts in recycled material instead of toxic gift wrap or cardboard boxes that ends up in the landfill or contact local zoos and aquariums to find out about sponsor-an-animal programs. Adopt tigers, pandas, elephants and sea turtles at World Wildlife  Or, find a number of gift ideas for people throughout the world at: Alternative Gifts International  or Garden Harvest

Party Ideas: Build your party around a kid-friendly theme such as puppies, zoo animals, National Geographic, dinosaurs or garden. For example, have a puppy-themed party to benefit a local animal shelter. In lieu of birthday gifts, have guests bring donations, dog food, leashes, water bowls and toys for the abandoned animals.  Have a garden party and have the children plant flowers in painted wooden baskets to take home as a favor.

Favors: Use our craft that is included in your package as a alternative to the favor bags or make home-baked, low-sugar cookies wrapped in a cloth bag or jar for the kids to take home.

Invitations: Use invitations that are made from more sustainable materials, such as tree free paper. There are also seeded invitations where each piece of paper is embedded with a mixture of annual and perennial wild flower seeds.  Or you can just send invitations electronically.
